----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Article
Hunting" (the
adventurous journey to obtain the full text of a scientific
article)
1) Direct
free access from PubMed
Try the "Full Text" links (buttons) in the PubMed record (it is a
link to the publisher).
Sometimes, the full text is available for free ("Open Access").
Other useful links may be found in the section:
"LinkOut - more resources"
at the end of the PubMed record.
2) Reserved access
from PubMed
Try the "A-link" red button in
the PubMed record
(link to full text reserved, if available, to users with Bologna
University credentials).
3) Reprint request
You can always send an e-mail (or a fax, or a letter) to one of the
Authors, requesting a pdf file or a reprint of the article.
Usually, the e-mail address of at least the First Author of the
article is reported in the PubMed record.
Alternatively, the e-mail address of the Corresponding Author may be
reported in the article record at the journal website,
or you may find the e-mail address of one of the Authors searching
the Internet.
The typical form of the letter is:
Dear Dr. ..., I would greatly appreciate a reprint or a pdf
version of your article:
... (bibliographic data of the article) Thank you very much in advance, sincerely, (your
name, surname and affiliation)
5) Internet search It is possible that the Author has legally made
available the article file in his/her own website,
or through a social network of scientists, e.g. ResearchGate:
try searching the Internet with the exact title of the article.
Other links in the section "Bibliography
of our website" "DNA".
